A Physician-Led Alternative to Going Straight to Surgery
New Canaan residents have no shortage of orthopedic surgeons within a short drive. What is harder to find is a physician-led clinic whose entire purpose is to resolve pain and injury without surgery. CT Sports Recovery, at 215 Main Street in Westport, fills that gap for New Canaan: our board-certified physiatrist and osteopathic physicians diagnose the source of the problem and treat it with hands-on osteopathic manipulation, focused shockwave therapy, PRP and regenerative treatments, red light therapy and EMTT magnet therapy.
Physician visits are billed to insurance, no referral is required, and if your evaluation shows you do need a surgeon, we will tell you plainly and help you get there. For most sports injuries and chronic pain, though, the smarter first step is a physician who treats the cause.
Who We Help in New Canaan
- New Canaan High School Rams in football, lacrosse, field hockey, hockey, soccer, squash and track, along with youth athletes in the town's club and recreation programs.

- Runners and walkers on the Waveny Park trails and the New Canaan Nature Center loops with plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, IT band syndrome or knee pain.

- Golfers and cyclists with low-back, hip and shoulder problems that keep flaring.
- Adults who have been told surgery is the next step and want a physician-led second opinion focused on non-surgical options.

Treatments Available to New Canaan Patients
All treatments are physician-performed or physician-supervised, in one office, so a treatment series does not turn into a tour of three different practices.
- Focused Shockwave Therapy for chronic tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis and calcific shoulder problems
- PRP and regenerative treatments for tendons and joints that have not responded to conservative care
- Osteopathic Manipulation (OMT) by DO physicians
- EMTT Magnet Therapy, Red Light Therapy and Infrared Therapy
- Dry Needling and Stretch Therapy
- Peptide and Hormone Optimization (18+)
Why New Canaan Patients Make the Drive
- A physician evaluation, billed to insurance, with no referral required.
- Non-surgical by design: the whole practice is built around resolving pain without an operation or long-term medication.
- Focused shockwave, PRP, EMTT and red light therapy in a single location.
- Same-week appointments, which matters when a season or a race is on the line.
- Honest triage: when a case needs imaging, a surgeon or physical therapy, we say so and coordinate it.

Frequently Asked Questions from New Canaan Patients
I have already seen an orthopedic surgeon. Is it worth getting a non-surgical opinion?
For many tendon, joint and spine problems, yes. Our physicians will review your history and imaging, examine you and tell you whether a non-surgical plan is realistic. If surgery is the right answer, we will say so.
Does CT Sports Recovery accept insurance for New Canaan patients?
Yes. Physician visits and covered treatments are billed to insurance, and no referral is needed. Advanced therapies such as focused shockwave, PRP, red light and peptide programs are typically self-pay, and we review costs before anything begins.
Can you treat squash and racquet-sport injuries?
Yes. Tennis and golfer's elbow, wrist tendonitis, rotator cuff problems and hip impingement are common in racquet athletes and respond well to a combination of osteopathic manipulation, targeted treatments such as focused shockwave and a structured return-to-play plan.
How long does it take to get from New Canaan to your office?
About 20 to 25 minutes via the Merritt Parkway or Route 106 to Route 33. Free parking is in the rear lot at 215 Main Street, Westport.
Do you evaluate concussions in NCHS athletes?
Yes. Our physicians provide concussion evaluation and a stepwise recovery plan for returning to school and sport, and we coordinate with athletic trainers when helpful.
